RHS Qualifications updates – Autumn 2021

The RHS is in the process of updating its qualifications. For learners currently studying or thinking of studying, further information on the changes, transition arrangements and time frames for completion for Levels 2 and 3 can be found here https://www.rhs.org.uk/education-learning/articles/rhs-qualifications-statement

The current suite of qualifications will be available until April 2022 and learners will have until the final exam session scheduled for February 2024 to successfully achieve the qualification on which they have enrolled. We are intending to offer the new qualifications, subject to approval, which RHS intend to launch in September 2022.

It is normal practice for awarding organisations to update their qualifications from time to time and no learners will be disadvantaged by the introduction of these new qualifications.

Her Majesty The Queen – A message from HCC

We’re deeply saddened at the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She was an inspiring and steadfast figure to us all and we are all deeply saddened by the loss. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, the country and beyond.

It was recently confirmed that the State Funeral of Her Majesty the Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September, and will be a national bank holiday. As a mark of respect, we will be closed on this day and will be unavailable to contact via phone. We’ll reopen as usual on Tuesday 20 September and all emails and queries will be responded to from this point.

RHS People Awards

The annual RHS People Awards are almost upon us, nominations are now open for 2023.

The RHS People Awards celebrate people who have made exceptional contributions to horticulture and gardening. There are seven different categories and anyone can make a nomination.

Two new categories have been introduced this year. The Community Award which recognises anyone in the UK who has made an outstanding contribution to a community gardening programme, and the Roy Lancaster Award which is open to people under the age of 35 on the date of nomination and acknowledges the exceptional contribution to the practise, science or promotion of horticulture.

Please visit https://www.rhs.org.uk/about-the-rhs/who-we-are/rhs-council/rhs-awards to submit your nomination for someone you believe should be recognised for their contribution to horticulture and gardening. Nominations must be submitted before 5pm on Wednesday the 31st of August, 2022.

Compliments of the season

2021 has flown by in the blink of an eye, with many more of our students overcoming challenges and adversity to achieve personal and professional goals.

We have also been pleased to welcome many new students onto our courses and have heard from new and existing students alike that they have enjoyed channelling their focus and energy into their studies this year. We look forward to supporting you all on your training in the New Year and beyond.

In light of the announcement of further ‘Plan B’ Government restrictions, we’d like to reassure you we will continue to do all we can to support you in your studies, with staff working from home where possible.

Please note, the College will be closed from Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24th until Tuesday, January 4th.

With all best wishes of the season.
